Thornley Has Released a New One - In Canada.

Ian Thornley, former frontman for the band, Big Wreck, has released a new disk with his latest band, Thornley.  The new disk is entitled "Tiny Pictures" and from the preview on their website, ThornlyBand.com, it really sounds like a 5 star affair.

I've been a fan of Thornley's writing and singing for a long time, and this is one I've been eagerly awaiting since the release of his last effort, Come Again

Check it out!

Searching for a Digital Piano?

So, I would love to buy a digital piano, but I'm kind of cash strapped at the moment, so I'm really looking for something under $500.  I'm going to document my search here, for anyone who might care, or may have some hints.

I'm looking at Yamaha instruments first.  Primarily at these two models:  NP-30 & P70

I've just read a really nice review of the NP-30.  I might go with this.  But I will keep looking.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cornell - Scream p.2

Scream (AmazonMP3 Exclusive Version)
Wow!  I'm really starting to like this disk.  Upon the first listen through, I wasn't sure if this was going to grow on me or not, as I'm not much for the bass-heavy dance meme.   But surprisingly, this has some really good melodic meat that really sticks in your head.  The lyrics are catchy also, the way he has placed them rhythmically.

My Favorites so far are:
Ground Zero
Long Gone

More to come!

Chris Cornell - Scream

Chris Cornell - Scream
Overall - Very different offering for Chris. For those expecting guitar heavy tunes, this will be a BIG disappointment. Myself, I have always been more drawn to his melody writing and vocal stylings than purely into the heavy riffing of his former bands and solo attempts. But I have to say that this is even a little further from that than I would have wished.

iTunes Genius is Not!

It hogs too many resources on my  computer.  If it is downloading information everything else seems to slow to a crawl.  Having realized this I disabled Genius, and so now I'm waiting for it to delete Genius data.  And I'm subsequently amazed at how long that is taking!  I mean, how much data have they collected on me over the past several months?!

So, if you are thinking about checking Genius out, I would advise against it, unless you really don't know what sort of music you like and what you should buy next.  If you are in that boat, just come here instead!  I'll be happy to tell you what to buy!

U2 - No Line on the Horizon - Review - Take 1

Ok, I have already read many reviews for this, ranging from 0 to 5 stars, so I tried not to  let them affect my own take on this new album from one of my all-time favorite bands.

I'm listening to it for the first time right now, and my first impression, is that it is indeed a more experimental outing that their last two.  But that was to be expected knowing that they were working with Brian Eno.  To come will be a track by track exposition of this latest offering from the Irish superstars.

To be continued....
